Jain: analytical engagement
Mughda Jain is co-author of S.H.A.R.P. (Strategic, Holistic, Adaptable, Reflective, Persistent) Insights (VK Global Publication, 2025), a classes IX-XII English language skills building work-book series targeted and mapped with the prescribed syllabus of CBSE schools.
A highly accomplished former corporate executive with over 20 years of experience in technology, infrastructure, and social impact sectors, Jain is currently a Gurgaon-based education expert committed to “building quality learning solutions”. The eight-part S.H.A.R.P. Insights series is her ninth book.
Newspeg. With the series for secondary classes released last year drawing excellent response, VK Global Publication has commissioned Jain (and co-author Maanya Gupta) to write a new middle school (classes VI-VIII) series.
History. An alumna of the top-ranked BITS, Pilani and IIM-Ahmedabad, Jain began her career in 1999 as a programmer analyst at IT behemoth Infosys Technologies, before signing up as General Manager with Feedback Infra Ventures, Delhi. This was followed by a promotion as head of business relations and CSR at the Feedback Foundation, and subsequently as country head (India) at Clean Air Fund, a global philanthropic organisation. In 2024, she quit corporate life to write English language learning enablement workbooks and guides. Jain explains that after years in engineering, consultation and social impact work, she came to the conclusion that capability to “think clearly and communicate well” begins in school classrooms, in (English) language where capability to “understand, reason and communicate clearly” is built.
“English has established itself as the global language of higher education, business and commerce. Therefore, linguistic politics aside, the interests of children are best served by learning English,” says Jain. In Maanya Gupta, also an IIM-Ahmedabad alumna, who has co-authored the S.H.A.R.P. Insights series, she found a like-minded collaborator.
According to Jain, the S.H.A.R.P. Insights series has been specially curated to support teachers and students to enhance English language communication and development skills, not through rote learning but through analytical engagement with language and literature.
Direct talk. “The distinguishing features of the S.H.A.R.P series are that it’s learner-focused; aligned with competency-based education mandated by NEP 2020; features mind maps, inter-textual questions, and assertions-based reasoning questions to develop students’ comprehension of English and build communication skills. Moreover, the textbook series provides integrat-ed digital support. QR codes embedded within each chapter lead to a curated digital repository offering visual explanations, mind maps, and structured revision aids. These digital resources reinforce classroom learning and support diverse learning styles,” says Jain.
Future plans. Looking ahead, Jain says her immediate focus is on deepening and improving the S.H.A.R.P. Insights series and training educators to adopt competency-based education and analytical assessments.
Power to you!
