Gopi Birla Memorial School (GBMS) hosted a special screening under the School Cinema International Film Festival (SCIFF) 2025, attended by more than 120 students. The session featured the Spanish feature film Salta, offering students an international viewing experience and prompting discussion on global storytelling.
SCIFF 2025 is being held across 40,000 government schools and over 1,000 private schools nationwide between 14 and 30 November.
Festival Director Syed Sultan Ahmed, a seven-time National Film Award winner, said, “A good film can make a child think, feel, question and dream — all in a way that stays with them for life. That is why we bring stories from around the world to schools across India. With SCIFF 2025, our goal is to give every child a chance to watch meaningful cinema and see the world through different eyes.”
The screening at GBMS was attended by Neha Jain, Artistic Director of SCIFF and Film Pedagogy Head at School Cinema, along with the film’s director and a three-member team. Students interacted with them to understand the filmmaking process and the intent behind the film.
Principal Suchita of Gopi Birla Memorial School said the initiative enabled students to experience world cinema in a structured format and understand storytelling as a tool for learning.
The school said bringing SCIFF to the campus aligns with its focus on providing learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.
