Birla High School organised the 27th L.N. Birla Memorial Invitational Debate on 10 and 11 July 2026 to mark Founder’s Day in memory of Shri L.N. Birla.
The preliminary round, held at Birla High School on 10 July, featured teams from 18 schools. Farida Singh, Dean Academics, welcomed the participants and urged them to engage in informed discussion and respectful disagreement. The round was chaired by Swati Gautam, with the eight highest-scoring teams advancing to the final.
The final was held at Vidya Mandir Auditorium on 11 July, where participants debated the motion, ‘Gender Equality is a Utopian Pursuit’.
Justice Dipankar Datta, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, attended as chief guest, while Dr Kunal Sarkar chaired the proceedings. The judging panel comprised Sudeshna Roy, Anil Vasvani, Tania Bhardwaj and Professor Shivaji Dasgupta.
Mahadevi Birla World Academy was named the overall best team, while Delhi Public School, Ruby Park, finished as runner-up. Niilesh Ghosh of Birla High School received the Best Speaker award, and Atira Dewan of Delhi Public School, Ruby Park, was named runner-up best speaker.
The audience verdict favoured the proposition. The event concluded with a vote of thanks.
