Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed the police to conduct forensic audits of MH-CET exam centres on complaints filed by teachers and students regarding irregularities in the 2026 MH-CET examination, including an alleged leak of candidate data.

The instructions were issued after he met with a delegation of teachers and students who raised various issues related to the Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test (MH-CET. )

During the interaction, teachers and students questioned cases in which candidates with comparatively low Class 10 and Class 12 marks reportedly secured exceptionally high CET percentiles.

The alleged scam involves claims that students paid up to Rs 15 lakh to secure 99-100 percentile through managed MH CET centres for admission to top colleges.

A Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-based teacher Narayan Shingare had alleged that data of 459,993 MHT-CET candidates was available for ₹10,000.

Shingare had complained that the database contained details including candidates’ names, examination centres, examination groups, mobile numbers and email IDs.

The CET cell had contested claims that its systems were compromised and said the purported database needed to be checked against the original information available with the Cell.

At Mantralaya, the chief minister listened to their teachers complaints and issued the following orders:

Forensic audit will be conducted on all the centres against which there are complaints.

All the complaints raised by the teachers will be investigated by filing FIRs through the Joint Police Commissioners.

Forensic audits will also be conducted regarding data leaks and investigations will be conducted through the Joint Police Commissioners.

Strict action will be taken against all those found guilty, Fadnavis assured the delegation.
