The Government of Maharashtra has officially gazetted FUEL SkillTech & Entrepreneurship University as a private skills university under the Maharashtra Private Skills Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2026.
The Bill enabling the recognition was introduced in the Maharashtra Legislative Council on 24 March 2026 and published under Rule 113, marking a legislative step towards expanding industry-aligned education in the state.
The Act seeks to establish and regulate self-financed private skills universities to support skill development and employability. Under Section 6, institutions are approved following due diligence by a designated committee.
The government confirmed that FUEL (Friends Union for Energising Lives), the sponsoring body, has met all statutory requirements. The university has therefore been included in the Schedule of the Act, granting it formal status.
The government gazette issued in March 2026 records the inclusion, marking a milestone for the organisation’s plans to develop a skills-focused education network.
Commenting on the development, Ketan Deshpande said corporate partnerships would be key to building the institution and supporting first-generation learners.
The university is expected to offer programmes aligned with industry requirements, with a focus on employability, innovation and entrepreneurship.
