The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and ROADIS distributed nearly 100 bicycles to deserving girl students through a cycle donation drive held across Varanasi, Surat and Ajmer. The initiative aims to support students facing mobility challenges and strengthen their access to education.
A total of 80 girls from 10 schools in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat received bicycles. The main event in Varanasi on 9 December 2025 was attended by senior NHAI officials, including Vishal Chauhan, IAS, Member Administration; S. Rajalingam, Commissioner, Varanasi Division; N. L. Yeotkar, Regional Officer, Bihar; Pankaj Kumar Maurya, Regional Officer, UP East; R. K. Verma, Project Director, PIU Sasaram; and Arun Kumar, Project Director, PIU Varanasi.
Chauhan said the initiative supports NHAI’s efforts to improve safe and accessible mobility for communities along national highways and helps students continue their education without disruption.
ROADIS CEO–Asia, Alvaro Santos, said the programme aligns with the company’s commitment to community development and supports educational opportunities for young girls in project areas.
The donation drive forms part of ROADIS’ Shikshaantra Plus programme, implemented across 10 schools and focused on improving educational infrastructure, digital access and learning outcomes.
