The partnership will provide students with industry-led projects, internships and placement opportunities.
NIIT University (NU) has partnered with enterprise AI company Fractal to establish an AI and Analytics Centre of Excellence (CoE), aimed at integrating industry practices and technologies into academic learning.
The Centre will focus on scalable AI infrastructure, generative AI, agentic AI and industry applications. It will provide students and faculty with opportunities to explore emerging AI technologies and work on business and technology challenges using industry datasets. Students will also gain exposure to machine learning, deep learning and responsible AI.
As part of the collaboration, students will work with Fractal’s Cogentiq platform, which supports multi-agent AI assistants and enterprise automation. NU faculty members will provide academic guidance, while Fractal experts will offer technical mentorship for industry-aligned and sponsored projects.
Third-year B.Tech students will have the opportunity to undertake capstone projects addressing Fractal’s business and technology requirements. These may include agent interoperability frameworks, cross-system orchestration, enterprise AI workflows and large language model (LLM) gateways.
Prof. Prakash Gopalan, President, NIIT University, said the partnership would help bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practice, enabling students to apply AI and analytics concepts to practical challenges.
Prof. Debopam Acharya, Dean – Engineering and Area Director – Computer Science and Engineering, NIIT University, said the Centre would provide a structured platform for students to explore AI applications through hands-on projects and industry mentorship.
Sandeep Dutta, Chief Practice Officer and Head of APAC, Fractal, said the collaboration would help students gain experience in applying AI to business challenges and develop skills aligned with enterprise requirements.
The partnership will also provide opportunities for summer internships, Industry Practice programmes, live projects and placements. Through the initiative, NIIT University aims to strengthen the integration of its academic programmes with evolving industry requirements and give students practical experience before they enter the workforce.
