Otis India, a subsidiary of Otis Worldwide Corporation (NYSE: OTIS), has announced the sixth edition of its global Made to Move Communities challenge. The 2025 edition focuses on designing Artificial Intelligence-based mobility solutions to support communities and first responders during natural disasters.
The initiative aims to promote STEM learning and engage students in developing practical solutions to mobility challenges faced in crisis situations. This year, more than 200 students from 18 countries and territories will collaborate with 150 Otis mentors to create AI-led innovations for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.
Mr. Sebi Joseph, President, Otis India, said, “During natural calamities, reliable vertical mobility is vital to ensure safety and access to essential support. This challenge encourages students to combine innovation with compassion and address mobility through a humanitarian approach.”
The Made to Move Communities programme is Otis’ flagship global initiative encouraging students to explore local mobility challenges and propose STEM-based solutions. Regional winners are selected by Otis judges and advance to a global finale. Each participating school receives a STEM grant ranging from USD 7,500 to USD 35,000.
Since its launch in 2020, the programme has engaged more than 1,000 students and 950 Otis mentors worldwide, contributing over USD 1.25 million in grants to support STEM education and innovation.
