UGC-NET results announced for 84 subjects; over 4,000 qualify for JRF

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) results for 84 subjects, with more than 4,000 candidates qualifying for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

Of the 6.07 lakh candidates who appeared for the examination, more than 97,000 qualified for PhD admissions, according to an NTA official.

The examinations were held in June, while the answer key was released on August 16. The NTA subsequently announced fresh examinations for Sociology, Commerce and English after an expert committee identified factual, typographical, translation and language-related errors in the question papers.

The re-examinations will be held on September 9 and 10. Candidates will not be required to pay an additional fee.

The UGC-NET determines candidates’ eligibility for appointment as assistant professors, admission to PhD programmes and the award of JRF in Indian universities and colleges.
