The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow on Thursday hosted the inauguration of Uttar Pradesh’s first Gen-Z post office on its campus, marking a significant milestone in India Post’s efforts to modernise postal services for young citizens and digital natives.
A distinctive feature of the new facility is the packers and movers service for students, enabling them to send their belongings directly from hostels to their homes after course completion at substantially reduced costs.
The Gen-Z post office at IIM Lucknow is part of India Post’s larger initiative to reimagine postal services across the country. In Uttar Pradesh, similar Gen-Z post offices have also been declared at Lucknow University, Sainik School Sarojini Nagar, and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Gupta , Director, IIM Lucknow said, “Prior to the internet era, letters were the primary means of communication, and India Post enabled this. Today, technology and tracking systems have the potential to make services more efficient. We are glad to have the first Gen-Z post office in the state, and I am confident it will benefit the IIM Lucknow community at large.”
Sunil Kumar Rai Postmaster General, HQ Region, Lucknow said, “With the launch of this Gen-Z post office, we aim to make the postal system smarter and more approachable.
