Former India cricketer and President of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Venkatesh Prasad, inaugurated the JAIN Heritage Sports School (JHSS) at JAIN Heritage School’s Hebbal campus. The institution, launched in collaboration with 91 Sporting Company, aims to integrate academic learning with professional sports training.
The event was attended by Chenraj Roychand, Chairman of the JAIN Group, along with Director Archana Vishwanath, cricketer K. L. Shrijith, Olympic swimmer Srihari Nataraj, KSCA Honorary Secretary Santosh Menon and 91 Sporting Company Founder and CEO Rahul Menon.
Speaking at the inauguration, Prasad said institutions that combine academics with sports provide students an opportunity to pursue athletic ambitions alongside education. He noted that education and sport should complement each other and welcomed the collaboration between JAIN Heritage School and 91 Sporting Company.
Roychand said the programme integrates 300 hours of focused academics with nearly 1,000 hours of structured sports training annually, with the aim of developing discipline, resilience and leadership among students.
The JHSS model is designed to address the challenge faced by students who often choose between academics and sports. The curriculum includes a structured pathway from Movement Literacy (grades 4–6) and Skill Foundation (grades 6–8) to Performance Preparation (grades 8–10) and Pathway Focus (grades 10–12).
Facilities at the campus include synthetic cricket nets, turf wickets, cricket and football grounds, indoor badminton courts, a swimming pool, video analysis rooms and a high-performance gym with physiotherapy support. The programme currently offers training in cricket, football, badminton, shooting, swimming and chess, with plans to add more sports in future phases.
