At Rustomjee Cambridge International School, learning often extends far beyond the four walls of the classroom. This year, the responsibility of organising the much-anticipated Business Fair was entrusted to the Grade 7 Class Representatives (CRs), offering them a rare opportunity to transform theoretical ideas into lived experience.
What followed was not merely an event, but a remarkable journey of initiative, collaboration, and leadership. Beginning with nothing more than an idea, the Grade 7 CRs set out to build the fair from the ground up. Like young architects of enterprise, they carefully mapped each step of the process. From conceptualising the event to promoting it among students and parents, the team ensured that every detail was thoughtfully orchestrated.
Promotion became their first challenge. Invitations were carefully designed and circulated, while parents were warmly invited to participate in the vibrant marketplace the students were preparing to create. Soon after, the CRs turned their attention to the practical mechanics of assigning stalls, coordinating with participants, and ensuring that every student had a place to showcase their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
The Business Fair took place on a lazy Sunday, but the response was fantastic. Students, parents, and friends joined the bustle of the marketplace, bringing enthusiasm and energy that helped these young entrepreneurs kick off their first ventures with a bang.
On the day of the fair, the school campus transformed into a lively hub of youthful enterprise. Colourful stalls displayed an array of imaginative products, while enthusiastic young vendors learned firsthand the art of attracting customers, negotiating transactions, and presenting their ideas with confidence. The fair became a living classroom where lessons in financial literacy, communication, creativity, and perseverance came alive.
The Business Fair ultimately became more than just an activity; it was a powerful exercise in experiential learning. Through teamwork, careful planning, and unwavering commitment, the Grade 7 CRs demonstrated that when students are entrusted with responsibility, they rise to the occasion with ingenuity and determination. The event stood as a shining testament to the spirit of collaboration and the cultivation of essential life skills, proving that today’s young learners are indeed tomorrow’s thoughtful leaders and innovators.
