Rustomjee Cambridge International School successfully conducted its Literary Fest, “A Walk Through Time and Tales,” in the month of February. The event was designed to celebrate literature, history, and real-life inspiration through interactive learning, and it witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across different grades.
Mrs. Latika Parikh, the Principal at Virar, sharing her thoughts on the occasion, remarked,
“At RCIS, we believe that education must go beyond textbooks. ‘A Walk Through Time and Tales’ allowed our students to connect with literature and history in a living, experiential way. When students research deeply, speak confidently, and reflect thoughtfully, true learning takes place. We are proud of the passion and dedication displayed by our students and staff.”
The fest aimed to move beyond conventional classroom learning by providing students with an opportunity to explore characters in depth and engage in meaningful conversations. The school campus was filled with excitement as students stepped into the shoes of well-known literary figures and real-life personalities, transforming the event into a vibrant learning experience.
Senior students took on literary or real-life characters from a wide range of classic novels, mythology, historical figures, social reformers, scientists, and other influential personalities. Students conducted thorough research on their characters, gathering information about their lives, achievements, struggles, values, and impact on society. This research process helped students enhance their reading, note-making, and analytical skills.
On the day of the event, the senior students came dressed as their characters and responded to questions as if they were the personalities themselves. Their presentations reflected careful preparation, creativity, and a deep understanding of their chosen characters.
The interactive segment of the Literary Fest involved junior students as interviewers and covered a variety of aspects, such as the characters’ motivations, challenges, achievements, and relevance in today’s world. This activity encouraged younger students to think critically and ask meaningful questions rather than simple factual ones.
The interactive session was participative and engaging, with students speaking confidently and demonstrating strong communication skills and a clear grasp of their queries and research.
Teachers were delighted with the interaction, which promoted active listening, curiosity, and respectful conversation among students.
The Literary Fest also served as a platform for collaborative learning. The overall atmosphere was one of enthusiasm, creativity, and intellectual engagement. Teachers shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, applauding the remarkable confidence displayed by the students and the depth of insight and understanding reflected in their interactions.
The Literary Fest, “A Walk Through Time and Tales,” proved to be a meaningful educational experience. Students enjoyed the mix of fun and enriching learning that made the fest memorable. By blending research, interaction, and reflection, RCIS once again demonstrated its commitment to innovative learning practices that inspire students and bring literature and history alive in the classroom.
