Two Class XI students from Shiv Nadar School, Noida, have won the RoboCupJunior Rescue Line – SuperTeam Challenge at RoboCup 2026, an international robotics championship held in Incheon, South Korea.

Representing India as Team System Override, Ayaan Suri and Tanash Garg secured first place after competing against 27 teams from countries including Germany, Japan, South Korea, Australia, the United States, Singapore and Brazil. RoboCup 2026 brought together more than 300 teams from over 45 countries across multiple robotics categories.

The RoboCupJunior Rescue Line competition required teams to design and programme autonomous robots capable of navigating simulated disaster environments, overcoming obstacles and completing rescue operations without human intervention.

In the SuperTeam Challenge, the Indian team partnered with a team from Croatia to integrate their independently developed robots. The combined team completed a task involving coordinated object collection, colour identification and communication between the robots to complete the mission.

Commenting on the achievement, Anju Soni, principal of Shiv Nadar School, Noida, said the victory reflected the school’s emphasis on experiential learning and recognised the students’ innovation, teamwork and problem-solving abilities.

The students began preparing for the competition in March after completing their Class 10 board examinations. They designed and built an open-source autonomous robot using OpenMV cameras, Raspberry Pi Pico microcontrollers and 3D-printed components.

Ayaan Suri said the win was the result of years of learning, experimentation and teamwork, while Tanash Garg said collaborating with an international team highlighted the importance of communication and adaptability.

The team was mentored by teachers Ganga Subramanian, Kamini Sharma and Pallavi Saran, with additional guidance from school alumni Mudit Adityaja and Nikhil Sundaresan during the preparation process.
