The University of Aberdeen has received a Letter of Approval (LoA) from the University Grants Commission (UGC), enabling it to formally begin student enrolment and admissions for the inaugural September 2026 intake at its Mumbai campus.
Founded in 1495, the UK-based university will offer undergraduate programmes in Business Management, Computing Science and Data Science, along with postgraduate programmes in Artificial Intelligence and Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Commenting on the development, Professor Peter Edwards, principal and vice-chancellor of the University of Aberdeen, said the approval marked a significant milestone in the establishment of the Mumbai campus. He said the university aims to provide a research-led education with global perspectives and industry engagement while strengthening academic ties between the UK and India.
According to the university, the programmes will combine research-led teaching with experiential learning and interdisciplinary collaboration to prepare students for evolving industry requirements. Students will study an internationally benchmarked curriculum while developing analytical, leadership and problem-solving skills.
The university said the Mumbai campus forms part of its long-term strategy to expand access to internationally recognised higher education in India and strengthen academic collaboration between the two countries.
Applications for the inaugural September 2026 intake are now open.
