Zoho has launched Zoho Classes 2.0, an AI-powered learning management system (LMS) for schools, colleges and universities, with free access for all Central and State government educational institutions in India and teachers handling up to 100 students.
The platform, which will launch first in India before expanding to international markets, combines AI-enabled teaching tools, student lifecycle management and institutional analytics on a single platform. Private educational institutions can access the platform through paid subscription plans.
According to Zoho, the platform supports all 22 scheduled Indian languages, enabling AI-generated course content, assessments and learning support in regional languages.
“Education shapes how societies learn, adapt, and grow, making it one of the most important areas where technology can create lasting impact,” said Mani Vembu, CEO of Zoho. He added that the company was offering the platform free of product licensing costs to Central and State government institutions to expand access to educational technology.
Zoho Classes 2.0 includes an AI Course Builder that generates course structures, lesson plans, assignments and assessments from a syllabus or topic. The platform also offers AI-assisted grading, course outcome mapping and tools to support flipped classroom models.
Students can access a 24/7 AI tutor, microlearning modules and interactive learning activities. Institutions can use student lifecycle management tools to monitor student progress, identify learners requiring intervention and track academic outcomes. A low-code application builder allows institutions to develop custom tools for admissions, lesson planning and syllabus management.
The platform supports outcome-based education and accreditation processes, including Course Outcome and Programme Outcome tracking, and is designed to meet reporting requirements for bodies such as NAAC, NBA, UGC and the National Medical Commission. It also includes workflows for Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME).
Zoho said the platform supports India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 objectives related to digital learning, multilingual education and outcome-based learning. It also complies with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act and supports data residency in India.
The company said Zoho Classes is already used by institutions including SRM Institute, Sishya School, Chettinad Health City, CGIHM, Vidya Mandir, Grace International School and GSE Institute, as well as government education bodies. According to Zoho, the platform has processed more than one million assignment submissions, delivered over eight million notifications and hosts more than 2TB of teacher-created video content.
