IIT Madras, Hyundai open cancer treatment support applications for children

IIT Madras and Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) have opened online applications for financial support for children from low-income families undergoing cancer treatment under the ‘Hyundai Hope for Cancer’ programme.

Treating physicians, hospitals, parents, caregivers, NGOs and social organisations can nominate eligible children for assistance through the programme’s Cancer Care Fund.

Prof S. Mahalingam of IIT Madras’ Department of Biotechnology, who is leading the initiative, said the programme aims to reach families across India who may be unaware of the support available. Members of the public can also refer children requiring financial assistance.

Support will be provided based on eligibility criteria, medical documentation and a review process. Treating physicians can nominate patients by submitting the Patient Nomination Form and relevant medical records through the online portal.

The programme also covers cancer awareness and screening, HPV vaccination and cancer genomics research.
