A cohort of 30 Executive MBA participants from the National University of Singapore (NUS) travelled to India from September 6 to 12 as part of an experiential learning programme designed and facilitated by Bengaluru-based experiential learning company Immersion India.
The NUS EMBA India Programme covered Mumbai and Bengaluru, with participants engaging with companies, startups and communities to understand India’s business and social landscape.
In Bengaluru, the cohort visited HiCal Technologies, Narayana Health and Tata Elxsi. At HiCal Technologies, participants explored the company’s aerospace, defence and space manufacturing operations. At Narayana Health, they examined the use of scale, standardised processes and a hub-and-spoke model in healthcare delivery.
At Tata Elxsi, participants engaged with company leadership on design, engineering and product innovation. The visit included a session with Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer Nitin Pai and visits to the Mobility Innovation Centre and Network Operations Centre.
The Bengaluru programme also featured a September 11 panel discussion, “Startup Landscape in India: From Idea to Scale”. The panel included Kumar S N, Co-Founder & CEO of AiNions; Harish, Product Head at Ninjacart; and Vishal Krishna, Founder & Editor of The Upstream Life. It was moderated by Santosh Joseph, CEO & Managing Director of Germinate Investor Services LLP.
The discussion covered building companies in India, including identifying local problems, finding product-market fit, and navigating capital, technology and talent.
The Bengaluru leg concluded with a networking reception for the NUS cohort and alumni.
The programme also included cultural and business experiences in Mumbai, including interactions with the city’s dabbawalas, a visit to Dharavi, and engagements with Deloitte India, Jio World Centre and JioStar.
“India cannot really be understood through a presentation or a case study alone. You have to experience its companies, entrepreneurs, communities, contradictions and culture. Our idea is to make the country itself the classroom. Bengaluru is particularly fascinating because participants can see technology, healthcare, manufacturing, entrepreneurship and heritage within the same learning journey,” said Vineeth Thomas, Co-Founder, Immersion India.
Immersion India designs study-centric experiential learning programmes that connect students, executives, faculty and professionals with India’s business, social and cultural environment.
