At The Emerald Heights International School, sport is not an extracurricular indulgence — it is an essential pillar of our educational philosophy. We firmly believe that the playground is as important as the classroom in shaping character, discipline, and resilience. Sports are seamlessly integrated into our curriculum because they build not only athletes, but confident, balanced, and future-ready individuals.
Our world-class sports infrastructure provides students with an unparalleled environment to pursue excellence across disciplines. Participation in sport instills life skills such as discipline, teamwork, perseverance, obedience, leadership, and emotional strength — qualities that positively influence academic achievement and personal growth.
Infrastructure that Inspires Excellence
The school’s sporting facilities are among the finest in the country, designed to meet international standards and provide professional exposure at the school level.
Adventure Park and Sport Climbing
Our state-of-the-art Adventure Park houses Madhya Pradesh’s first bouldering and sport climbing wall in a school campus, measuring 15 metres in height and 5 metres in width, designed for both lead and speed climbing. With forty-seven adventure activities including rappelling, flying fox, and obstacle courses, the park cultivates courage and leadership. Obstacle Course training is a mandatory part of the curriculum from Class VI onwards.
Our commitment to adventure sports bore fruit when one of our students won a Bronze Medal for India in Sport Climbing at the Asian Championship 2019 held in Bengaluru.
Athletics
We have recently developed Madhya Pradesh’s first Class 2 certified 400-metre, 9-lane synthetic track built to international standards — placing us among the very few schools in India with such advanced track and field infrastructure. This facility enables systematic, high-performance training for budding athletes.
Major Team Sports
The school boasts international-standard cricket ground and holds the unique distinction of being the only school in India to host prestigious domestic tournaments such as the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Basketball thrives on our four hard courts and two turf courts, with five of our students having been members of the Indian Women’s Basketball Team.
Our football programme operates across four full-sized grounds, consistently producing state-level champions. Notably, a student represented Madhya Pradesh in the 3rd Edition of the Khelo India Youth Games.
In handball, our student has proudly represented India at international platforms, including participation in the prestigious Paris World Games 2025, France and Partille Cup 2025, Sweden — gaining invaluable global exposure and competitive experience.
Precision and Indoor Sports
The Maharana Pratap Sports Complex houses nine wooden badminton courts and a grand table tennis hall with 25 tables, where students regularly secure state rankings.
Our six international-standard glass-back squash courts have produced remarkable achievements, including a student who was ranked #1 in India and #2 in Asia in 2017 and represented the nation internationally.
Chess, compulsory at the primary level, develops analytical thinking and strategic planning, with our players consistently winning national accolades.
Aquatics and Water Sports
Our 25-metre swimming pool, with depths ranging from 3.5 to 12 feet, reinforces swimming as a mandatory life-saving skill. One of our students represented India in Canoe Slalom at international events in Spain, Iran, China (2019) and Italy (2022), while also ranking #1 nationally in Swimming and Canoe Slalom during 2019 and 2020. Another was a member of the National Water Polo Team.
Shooting and Skating
The school’s two automated indoor shooting galleries include a 10-metre range with 22 targets and advanced 25-metre and 50-metre ranges for rifle and pistol events. Our excellence in shooting was recently reaffirmed when our students won Gold and Bronze medals for India at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Shooting Championship 2025. Additionally, two of our shooters were earlier members of the India National Shooting Squad in 2020, and our athletes consistently earn medals and scholarships at national platforms.
Our 200-metre Banked Skating Track, built to international standards, has enabled students to win three Gold Medals for India at the Asian Championship 2018 in Thailand and the Open International Competition 2018 in Indonesia.
Tennis and Beyond
Emerald Heights was the first school in Madhya Pradesh to introduce Deco Turf courts in 2000, recently upgraded to vibrant blue Rebound Ace synthetic courts — a pioneering combination in India. A student from our school became the first from MP to be selected for the Junior Davis Cup (Malaysia, 2020) and represented India at the Junior Asian Championship 2018 in Qatar.
Our comprehensive programme also includes volleyball, martial arts (Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Kudo, Hapkido), yoga, billiards, gymnastics, golf, throwball, and netball. In yoga alone, our students have won two Gold and one Bronze medals for India at the Asian Yoga Sports Championship 2019.
Beyond Medals: Character First
While our medal tally and international representations are a matter of pride, our true achievement lies in character formation. Sports teach students how to handle pressure, respect rules, work in teams, and recover from setbacks. They develop mental toughness and emotional balance — essential attributes for leadership in any field.
At The Emerald Heights International School, sport is education in motion. It is where determination meets discipline, where talent meets training, and where young learners discover the champion within.
Through structured coaching, global exposure, and a culture that values effort as much as achievement, we continue to shape athletes who excel not only on the field, but in life.
