Aequs Group and the Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IIT-D) have established a research and development ecosystem focused on materials science and manufacturing at the IIT-D campus.
The facility supports material characterisation, failure analysis, and manufacturing process simulation and optimisation, with the aim of strengthening collaboration between industry and academia in precision manufacturing.
The initiative will lead to the creation of an “IIT Dharwad–Aequs Research and Development Center” to advance applied research and link laboratory work with industrial applications.
Aravind Melligeri, Executive Chairman and CEO of Aequs Ltd., said the partnership reflects the company’s focus on research, innovation, and skill development, and will support both IIT Dharwad’s research capabilities and Aequs’ product development.
Venkappayya R. Desai, Director of IIT-D, said the facility would enhance industry-aligned research and provide students and researchers with exposure to manufacturing challenges.
The centre will enable analysis of material behaviour and failure mechanisms, contributing to improved product quality, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency in precision industries.
It will also conduct training programmes for engineers, researchers, and students in advanced materials analysis. Aequs will continue to support the facility through technical assessments, equipment monitoring, and maintenance.
