The University Grants Commission has issued a red flag alert against Bengaluru-based Global Human Peace University for issuing false degrees to students.
The Commission has warned students against seeking admissions into such a self-styled institution that could jeoparadise the career of students.
“This has come to the notice of UGC that Global Human Peace University, # 1035, 4th Block, Near Golden Heights Dr. Rajkumar Road, Rajali Nagar, Bangaluru560010 (Karnataka) is awarding degrees in violation of UGC Act, 1956. The UGC has included its name in the UGC list of Fake Universities.
“It is informed that Global Human Peace University is neither recognized by UGC under Section 2(f)/ Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 nor approved by AICTE and any other statutory body. Hence, it is not entitled to award any degree/diploma. Any degree/diploma awarded by this institute so far is not valid for Higher Education/ Government employment purposes. In view of the above, students, parents and public at large are cautioned through this public notice NOT ТО ТАKE ADMISSION in the above-mentioned selfstyled institution,” the notice by UGC reads.
According to their website, claims are made that GHPU is an independent international virtual institution committed to democratizing education by offering free, accessible, and inclusive online learning to students across the globe. “Global Human Peace University (GHPU) incorporated under the Federal Government of the United States of America and approved by the Secretary of State, Division of Corporations, State of Delaware,” the description reads.
The self-proclaimed university has been founded by Dr. P. Manuel who is the Chairman as well of the Global Human Peace University. Not only has this varsity been issuing degrees to students but has also issued honorary doctorates to several Indians and foreigners including a member of parliament from France and a member of the European Parliamentary Commission. The varsity claims to offer various courses online and offline ranging from aviation to vocational training.
