The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday announced Class 10 board results, with 93.70 per cent of students passing the examination. More than 55,000 candidates scored above 95 per cent marks.
A total of over 2.20 lakh students secured above 90 per cent. Girls recorded a pass percentage of 94.99 per cent, outperforming boys, whose pass percentage stood at 92.69 per cent. Transgender students registered a pass percentage of 87.50 per cent.
In line with the National Education Policy, CBSE introduced two board examinations for Class 10 this year. The first was conducted in February–March, while the second is scheduled for May. Students are required to appear in the first examination.
CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said the results were declared earlier than usual after the evaluation of approximately 1.6 crore answer scripts. He added that students would be asked to submit their candidature for the second examination through their schools.
Among high scorers, 55,368 students secured above 95 per cent, while 2,21,574 scored above 90 per cent. More than 1.47 lakh candidates have been placed in the compartment category.
Region-wise, Trivandrum and Vijayawada recorded the highest pass percentage at 99.79 per cent, while Guwahati recorded the lowest at 85.32 per cent. Delhi registered a pass percentage of 97.38 per cent.
Among institutions, Kendriya Vidyalayas recorded a pass percentage of 99.57 per cent, followed by Navodaya Vidyalayas at 99.42 per cent. Private schools recorded 93.77 per cent, while government-aided schools recorded 91.01 per cent.
Children With Special Needs (CWSN) recorded a pass percentage of 96.24 per cent, with 91 students scoring above 95 per cent and 452 scoring above 90 per cent.
CBSE did not release a merit list or award divisions. Merit certificates will be issued to the top 0.1 per cent of students and made available through DigiLocker after the second examination.
The board also declared results for students in the Middle East, where examinations had been cancelled due to the West Asia situation. An alternative assessment policy was applied.
Foreign schools recorded a pass percentage of 99.10 per cent.
More than 24.71 lakh candidates appeared for the examination conducted across 8,074 centres. On February 21, CBSE conducted examinations for 24.95 lakh candidates in a single day, deploying over 20 lakh invigilators.
