The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) will hold a meeting of its national working committee on Monday to review the status of commitments made by the Centre following the withdrawal of its nationwide agitation on July 25.

The CJP said the government has yet to formally communicate the steps being taken to fulfil the assurances. It added that all options would be considered at the meeting, including another peaceful nationwide agitation.

The development comes after the Supreme Court on August 18 sought a consolidated list of FIRs registered against students and protesters across the country. According to the CJP, the court asked the Centre to provide the list so that it could consider exercising its powers under Article 142 to quash the cases.

The CJP said the assurances given during talks with the Centre included withdrawal or quashing of FIRs arising from the protests, protection of students and peaceful protesters from punitive action, and compensation for the families of NEET-UG candidates who died by suicide after the examination was cancelled in May following paper leaks.

The organisation said the government delegation involved in the talks has not formally informed it about the steps taken on the assurances, including those concerning FIRs and compensation.

The CJP said its national working committee would assess the situation on Monday and decide its next course of action.

The organisation withdrew its nationwide agitation on July 25, following the resignation of then education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and assurances from the government regarding action against students and peaceful protesters. The protests had also sought action over the NEET paper leak and compensation for affected families.
