Technology services company Coforge has inaugurated its fourth public library in India at Vasant Kunj in New Delhi, expanding its flagship corporate social responsibility initiative.
The new facility is the third Coforge Public Library in the Delhi-NCR region after Noida and Gurugram, and follows the company’s earlier library established in Hyderabad. The library was inaugurated on June 5 by Rekha Gupta in the presence of local residents, educationists, senior citizens, youth and children.
In a message issued after the launch, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the library would serve as a gateway to knowledge and opportunity, while commending Coforge’s efforts to expand access to learning resources.
Anuradha Sehgal, Chief Brand and Sustainability Officer at Coforge, said the company selects library locations with the objective of serving densely populated areas, including communities with limited access to quality reading infrastructure. She said the Vasant Kunj library is intended to function as a shared community space that promotes reading and learning.
Sudhir Singh, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Coforge, said the company views business growth and social responsibility as interconnected and aims to create long-term value for communities alongside its commercial objectives.
Located on the first floor of Vasant Square Mall in Vasant Kunj, the library offers 10,000 square feet of reading space and houses more than 15,000 books across genres including fiction, business, technology, spirituality, biographies, poetry and art. Visitors can use digital screens to locate books within the collection.
The facility also includes a dedicated children’s section with around 4,500 books and space for reading activities involving students, parents and teachers.
Entry and reading are free of charge. Visitors can borrow books by paying a refundable deposit, while students from government schools are exempt from the deposit requirement.
The library has a seating capacity of 170 people and will remain open from 9 am to 8 pm throughout the year. Coforge said it plans to further expand its network of public libraries across India, beginning with additional locations in the Delhi-NCR region.
