ETS has announced senior leadership appointments for India and South Asia to support market expansion, partnerships, and test-taker engagement.
Karan Lalit has been appointed Executive Director, South Asia, for TOEFL and GRE. Pallavi Gupta joins as Director, Marketing, South Asia, for TOEFL and GRE. They will lead regional strategy, market positioning, and customer engagement.
The appointments come as the study-abroad sector adapts to policy changes, evolving destination choices, and a focus on employability. Following the launch of the updated TOEFL iBT in January 2026, ETS is revising its regional approach to align with student preparation, applications, and outcomes.
Lalit has experience in international education, including roles at Study Group and Shorelight, with a focus on partnerships and market expansion across multiple regions. Gupta has led marketing functions across sectors including technology and consumer brands such as Hero Cycles, Samsung, Panasonic, Harman, Logitech, and Sennheiser.
Omar Chihane, Global General Manager – TOEFL at ETS, said South Asia remains a priority market, with increasing demand for flexible and outcome-oriented pathways in global education.
Lalit said his focus will be on expanding institutional partnerships and improving access to TOEFL and GRE. Gupta said ETS will adapt its engagement strategy to meet the expectations of digital-first, outcome-driven students.
The appointments reflect ETS’s focus on expanding its presence in South Asia and strengthening its role in the international assessment ecosystem.
