Galgotias University students protest, hilarious responses to reporter turn into memes

A student-driven protest against the Indian National Congress at the backdrop of the elections sparked a meme fest on social media on Thursday after students failed to answer questions on why they participated in the protest.

On May 1 scores of students of the Galgotias University, a private university on Yamuna Expressway in Dankaur, Uttar Pradesh were headed towards the INC office to express their disagreement over various agendas in the congress manifesto.

A trending video on X (formerly Twitter) surfaced on social media where a reporter from a regional media channel approached the students seeking to know why they had joined the protest.

A journalist sought to know why these students were at a protest to which many read out of posters. However, when they were asked if they were aware of what it entailed, the responses were nil.

Some students claimed that they gathered to protest against the congress’ wealth redistribution guarantee and against the CAA and NRC. However, a majority of students interviewed failed to answer what that meant and said that they had not read the manifesto.

What followed was a meme fest.
