Heritage Law College organised CONCORD 2026, its induction and orientation programme for the new batch of students, bringing together representatives from the judiciary, corporate legal practice and professional institutions.
The programme featured Justice Subrata Talukdar (Retd.), former judge of the Calcutta High Court, as chief guest; Prabir Kumar Mitra, chief legal officer of RPSG Group; and Anil Dubey, former chairman of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), as guests of honour.
The speakers shared perspectives on the role of law in society, corporate governance, compliance, professional ethics and the relationship between law and business.
Pradip Agarwal, chief executive officer of Heritage Group of Institutions, said the programme was designed to help students understand the responsibilities associated with pursuing a career in law.
He added that legal education must go beyond knowledge of statutes to develop professionals who understand the ethical foundations of law and their responsibilities towards society.
CONCORD 2026 marked the beginning of the students’ academic journey, with the programme emphasising the importance of connecting classroom learning with the practical and ethical dimensions of the legal profession.
