PW invited parents of CHIREC International School, Hyderabad to share insights on how they help children identify and develop their talents

“Every child possesses innate talents waiting to be discovered. As parents of Niveda (grade I) and Niyathi (grade VI), we focus on creating a home environment that encourages exploration, curiosity, and self-discovery rather than directing their choices. By exposing them to diverse experiences and valuing effort as much as achievement, we help them identify their latent interests and strengths. We encourage them to embrace challenges and understand that success is not about excelling at everything but learning from every experience. Open communication allows them to share their aspirations freely. Today, my elder daughter Niyathi pursues classical dance and public speaking while the younger one Niveda is developing her basketball skills and exploring interest in drama” — Namratha T, Director, Dhaksha Projects

“As parents, we believe every child is born with unique talents. Our role is not to shape them into something they are not, but to observe, encourage, and provide opportunities for them to explore their interests. We ensure that our son Dhruv (grade I) is exposed to a variety of activities so he can discover what truly excites him. We focus on appreciating effort, curiosity, and perseverance rather than outcomes. Creating a supportive environment where he feels safe to try, fail, learn, and try again helps build confidence and resilience. Most importantly, we listen to him, celebrate his individuality, and allow his natural talents to develop at their own pace. We believe that when children are encouraged with love, patience, and guidance, they naturally grow into the best version of themselves” — Kiranmayi Vinjamuri, Sr. Systems Engineer, EPAM Hyderabad

“We believe children’s natural talents flourish when they are free to explore diverse experiences without pressure. Therefore, we encourage our son Nived (grade PP2) to engage in swimming, reading, creative play, outdoor activities, and travel, to help broaden his outlook. As parents, we believe in leading by example and actively participate in many of these activities together with him. Moreover, we never discourage him from asking questions and always try to answer them patiently, even when he asks the same question repeatedly. Above all, we pay close attention to what excites Nived and where his interests lie. Instead of focusing on results, we encourage effort, consistency, and learning from mistakes” — Nirja Mehta, homemaker

“We believe every child is unique, and our role as parents is to nurture and support them rather than dictate their path. Our son Ved G.R. (grade PP1) is a naturally curious child which drives him to ask countless questions. We encourage him by answering him patiently and thoughtfully. His natural love for music and singing is being nurtured through formal training, while his passion for drawing and painting – quite evident on our walls — has led us to enrol him in art classes. We also helped him overcome his fear of water by enrolling him in swimming classes. By combining discipline with understanding, and traditional values with a modern outlook, we strive to support Ved’s holistic growth and well-being” — Abhinita Ghosh, Senior Manager GBS India Delivery Lead, GAP Inc
