The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main Session 1 results for 2026, completing the first phase of one of India’s largest engineering entrance examinations.
A total of 13,55,293 candidates registered for the examination and 13,04,653 appeared, recording an attendance of 96.26 per cent. Twelve candidates secured a perfect 100 percentile in Paper 1 for Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Technology. A 100 percentile score strengthens prospects for a top All India Rank and eligibility for the next stage, JEE Advanced, the entrance examination for the Indian Institutes of Technology.
Among the candidates, twin brothers Mahroof Ahmed Khan and Masroor Ahmed Khan from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, recorded identical scores in Session 1.
The brothers prepared in Kota, Rajasthan. Mahroof said their preparation followed a structured schedule under the guidance of teachers and that he had been preparing for five years. Masroor said he addressed periods of low scores by consulting teachers and focused on NCERT textbooks. Both said they studied together, maintained similar study hours and motivated each other.
Mahroof said their mother relocated to support their preparation. He added that he aims to qualify for JEE Advanced and pursue computer science at IIT Bombay.
