To mark 75 years since the Indian Constitution came into effect after Independence, the Maharashtra government’s cultural affairs department is implementing a special awareness campaign titled ‘Our Constitution – Our Pride’ as part of the GOI’s year long ‘Constitution Amrit Mahotsav’.
A Digital Chariot (Rath) highlighting the initiative was recently inaugurated by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai and it is, currently, doing the rounds of numerous schools, colleges, public places and government offices, in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city.
Conceptualised by cultural affairs minister Ashish Shelar, the Constitution Awareness Digital Rath provides detailed information on the process of formation of the Indian Constitution, the role of the Constituent Assembly, and the fundamental rights and duties of citizens. Also highlighted are important provisions of the constitution, notably the right to equality, the right to freedom, the right against exploitation, the right to religious freedom, cultural and educational rights, and the right to constitutional remedies.
“The awareness campaign is providing effective guidance on the importance of democratic values, the Constitution, and the responsibilities of citizens,” Shelar said, adding, “It is evident that respect for the Constitution, a sense of duty, and an awareness of democratic values are becoming stronger, especially among students and the younger generation.”
