As part of the Yuva Sangam cultural exchange initiative of the Ministry of Education, a delegation of students from across Maharashtra visited Andhra Pradesh for an educational and cultural experience, hosted by IIT Tirupati, starting from 15 May 2026.
In June 2026, a delegation of students from Andhra Pradesh will be visiting IISER Pune.
Yuva Sangam is a flagship programme under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ (EBSB) initiative of the Indian government’s Ministry of Education, set up with the aim of promoting national integration, cultural exchange and experiential learning among youth.
The programme is in line with the vision of India’s Viksit Bharat (Developed India) 2047 vision which aims to transform the nation into a USD 30–40 trillion economy by its 100th independence anniversary.
According to official sources, the objectives of ‘Developed India 2047’ will be realised by “encouraging youth participation in nation building, innovation, scientific approach and cultural harmony.”
Accordingly, during the ongoing sixth phase of the initiative, state pairings have been formed for cultural exchanges. Maharashtra is paired with Andhra Pradesh, with IISER Pune and IIT Tirupati being designated as nodal institutions from these two states.
The Maharashtra delegation comprises 50 students from undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses, as well as off-campus youth below the age of 30. The delegates hail from various districts of Maharashtra and represent diverse academic disciplines such as science and engineering, literature, law, politics, economics and business administration.
The departure ceremony was attended by Prof. Sunil Bhagwat (Director, IISER Pune), Dr. Kaneenika Sinha (Professor and Coordinator, IISER Pune), and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) officials Tarun Kakar and Garima Rohela.
Professor Bhagwat commended Yuva Sangam for providing “an excellent platform for young students to experience India’s unity in diversity first-hand and emerge as ambassadors of national integration. By integrating young participants into scientific and academic institutions, I am sure this will add to the preparedness of India’s scientific sector.”
