In a significant move, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) and the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) have collaborated to launch a national skilling initiative.
Backed by Google and YouTube, the programme is offering 15,000 scholarships designed to turn animators, gamers, and storytellers into AI-savvy powerhouses even as AI reshapes how we view film, gaming, and digital media.
The programme focuses on Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics ( AVGC) and aims to integrate tools like Gemini 3 and Veo directly into the production pipeline.
According to a press release, the 14 day programme will follow a two-phased evolution designed to move participants from basics like “What is a prompt?” to “How do I build a studio-grade production?”
In the foundational phase , 15,000 selected learners will receive 33 hours of online training via Google Career Certificates and Google Cloud’s Gen AI pathways.
The objective is the mastering of responsible AI practices to ensure that the creative output is ethical and copyright-compliant.
In phase two, students will move from theoretical screens to practical hubs in major creative centers.
Hands-on experience will be gained with Gemini 3, Veo (Google’s high-fidelity video generation tool), and Vertex AI.
Participants will work on project-based modules, co-developed with YouTube, to create production-ready content.
Dr. Vishwas Deoskar, CEO of IICT, views this as a national imperative.
“This initiative is structured to address a national requirement: preparing creative professionals for practical, real-world application of AI across content creation, production, and distribution,” Dr Deoskar said.
With only 15,000 spots, competition is expected to be fierce. Interested learners may register at the official AI Skill House portal for the free training:
https://aiskillhouse.iict.org/.
Selection will be based on potential and relevance of the portfolio to the AVGC sector.
Students are warned against third-party sites asking for fees since these are government-funded scholarships.
