IIT Kharagpur has signed a memorandum of understanding with NxtWave to provide access to micro-specialisation courses under the IIT Kharagpur Outreach Course Network (OCN) for learners enrolling in NxtWave’s NIAT programme from 2026.
Under the agreement, eligible learners will be able to take selected OCN micro-specialisation courses alongside their regular NIAT programme. On successful completion, students will receive an IIT Kharagpur OCN micro-specialisation certificate, subject to institutional requirements and policies.
As part of the arrangement, learners will also be provided access to an OCN student identity card and an OCN email ID for the duration of the programme. Alumni status under OCN will be granted upon completion, subject to IIT Kharagpur’s policies.
The MoU was signed in the presence of senior representatives from IIT Kharagpur and NxtWave.
Speaking on the collaboration, IIT Kharagpur Director Suman Chakraborty said the initiative aligns with the National Education Policy 2020 and aims to extend access to credit-bearing programmes beyond campus.
NxtWave CEO Rahul Attuluri said the collaboration is intended to provide structured exposure to emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and support skill development aligned with industry requirements.
