Puducherry: Classmate’s mother accusing of poisoning 13-year-old boy

In a shocking incident of jealousy that has come to light, the mother of a class 8 school student has been accused of killing the student’s classmate for acing in academics and co-curricular activities. 

The incident has come to light from Puducherry where the incident occurred in a private school. 
 
Sahayarani Victoria, the mother of a class 8 student was arrested on murder charges and remanded in judicial custody on Sunday. She has been accused of murdering a 13-year-old Bala Manikandan. 
 
The police said that the mother was jealous of Manikandan excelling in academics and cultural activities. On Friday, she hoodwinked the watchman of the school, posing as a relative of the student delivering soft drinks to the child. She had laced the drink with poison. The incident had gone unnoticed as students were practicing for the annual day event. 
 
On his return home, the child who had consumed the soft drinks complained of nausea. On checking with school authorities, the parents were informed that the child had taken ill at school where he had consumed the drinks. It was on checking the CCTV footage that Sahayarani’s connection was established.
 
The boy’s parents then filed a police complaint and admitted him to Karaikal Government Hospital. However, the child failed to respond to treatment and died. The boy’s family and friends staged a protest in front of the hospital alleging medical negligence and inadequate care. They claimed that the child was neglected and was not shifted to the ICU despite worsening of the condition.
