The inaugural edition of the Bengaluru Skill Summit 2025 opened at The Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru, setting the stage for a two-day dialogue on workforce innovation and future readiness. The event was inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar and Minister for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood and Medical Education, Dr. Sharanaprakash R. Patil.
Hosted by the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) in collaboration with the Karnataka Skill Development Authority (KSDA) and knowledge partner Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), the summit aims to strengthen employability and foster future-ready skills. Germany joined this year’s edition as the Country Partner.
In his address, Siddaramaiah said, “Skill is not built in a day; it is a product of patience, perseverance, and continuous learning.” Emphasising consistency over mere motivation, he highlighted Karnataka’s pioneering role in establishing a dedicated Skill Development Department in 2016–17 and launching initiatives such as Kaushalya Karnataka Yojana and Yuga, which have trained lakhs of youth across the state. He reaffirmed the government’s vision to make Karnataka the Skill Capital of India and achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2032, driven by talent, technology, and tenacity.
Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar commended the state’s leadership in innovation and collaboration, stating that Karnataka remains “open for discussions, partnerships, and knowledge-sharing to strengthen the skill ecosystem”. He noted that long-term global collaborations, particularly with German institutions, continue to fuel the state’s progress in innovation and workforce development.
Dr. E. V. Ramana Reddy, Chairman of KSDA, said the summit reinforces Karnataka’s “Workforce 2030” vision by aligning skilling strategies with global benchmarks. Sanjeev Gupta, CEO of KDEM, added that the event exemplifies Karnataka’s mission to build a future-ready, AI-empowered talent ecosystem connecting industry, academia, and technology.
Over the next two days, the summit will feature keynote sessions by leading industry voices, including Subroto Bagchi, B. V. R. Subrahmanyam, and Ravi Venkatesan, alongside panel discussions on key themes such as Green Skills for a Sustainable Future, Automation for Industry 4.0, and Karnataka as the Skills Gateway to the World.
