SVKM’s NMIMS announces India’s first dual degree in MSc Economics

A new dual degree programme has been announced in association with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University by SVKM’s NMIMS, Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics (SAMSE). A Master of Science (MSc) in Economics is offered through the dual degree programme agreement, signed on December 10, 2022. 

First year is spent at NMIMS and second at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, in the USA. As per SAMSE, the program’s goal is to give students a thorough understanding of the various branches of economics as well as the skills to create and evaluate economic models utilizing high-end software and cutting-edge data methodologies. 

The course will cover foundational courses in Economics, and gradually to more complex courses like Big Data Economics, Financial Institutions, Behavioural Economics, and Managerial Economics.

Additionally, Virginia Tech is working to get a STEM certification for its Masters in Economics programme, which will allow out-of-country students to participate in optional practical training spanning three years upon earning their degree.
