The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Department has released the admission schedule for the 2026–27 academic year under the 25 per cent reservation in private schools mandated by the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009.
According to the department, the entire admission process will be conducted through an online portal. Eligible children for pre-primary and Class 1 will be selected through a lottery system.
The first phase of applications will run from February 2 to 16, the second phase from February 21 to March 7, and the third phase from March 12 to 25.
District Basic Education Officers and Block Education Officers have been instructed to complete admissions within the prescribed timelines. Schools will be required to upload admission status on the portal.
Mandatory documents include Aadhaar card of either parent, birth certificate, income certificate, residence certificate, caste certificate, ration card, and pension or disability-related certificate.
No fees will be charged from admitted children. The government will reimburse private schools with the prescribed amount per student.
Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh said the 25 per cent reservation ensures access to quality education for children from economically weaker and deprived sections. Director General of School Education Monika Rani said the online process and lottery system would ensure transparency and timely admissions.
Children aged 3–4 years for nursery, 4–5 years for LKG, 5–6 years for UKG, and 6–7 years for Class 1 will be eligible. Age will be calculated as of April 1, 2026.
Applications will be submitted online through the RTE portal. After document verification by district and block officials, eligible applicants will be selected through a lottery system.
