Two days after she was reported missing in the Tajganj area of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, an eight-year-old girl was found dead inside a flour container in a rented room within her own house, police said. The room had been leased to a man named Sunil, who allegedly joined the search efforts before going on the run.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Ali Abbas said the girl disappeared from the Siddhant Nagar locality around 4 pm on March 24. Her family alerted the police soon after, leading to a large-scale search operation.
Authorities formed multiple teams and examined CCTV footage from the surrounding areas. The girl was seen entering the locality in one camera, but did not appear in any subsequent recordings, which raised suspicion.
Based on this, police focused on a nearby rented room and broke open its lock. The room was occupied by Sunil, who lived in the same house as the victim’s family. During the search, the girl’s body was discovered hidden inside a flour container.
Officials said the accused is absconding, and several police teams are working to locate him. The body has been sent for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
The incident sparked anger among residents, who staged protests and demanded strict action against the accused.
