UWA vice-chancellor Professor Amit Chakma said the appointment reflected the university’s commitment to India as a strategic partner.
“Strong academic leadership in the region is central to our vision for meaningful engagement with students, researchers, institutions and industry,” Professor Chakma said.
“Professor Eri brings extensive experience across research, education and international collaboration, and his appointment will further strengthen opportunities between India and Australia.”
As associate pro vice-chancellor, Professor Eri will oversee UWA India’s strategic growth by advancing academic initiatives, strengthening partnerships with universities and industry, enhancing the student experience and promoting research collaboration between India and Australia.
Professor Eri said he looked forward to contributing to UWA India’s growth by building academic partnerships and creating opportunities for students and researchers in both countries.
“India is an important partner in global education and innovation, and I am excited to support collaborations that deliver meaningful outcomes for communities and industry,” Professor Eri said.
