University of Western Australia has opened applications for its campuses in Mumbai and Chennai, marking its first international expansion.
The move positions UWA as the first foreign university to establish two campuses in India at the same time. Applications are now open for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes aligned with sectors such as computer science, cyber security, data science, artificial intelligence, business management, economics, and information technology, including MBA offerings.
Announcing the development, Amit Chakma said the launch represents a significant step in expanding access to global higher education within India. He added that the campuses aim to combine academic delivery with industry engagement and collaborative learning pathways.
UWA stated that its India operations will focus on integrating academic programmes with industry exposure, supported by partnerships, applied learning models, and international faculty. Students will also have access to exchange opportunities and the university’s global alumni network.
The Mumbai campus in Andheri East is scheduled to begin classes in September 2026. The Chennai campus will roll out most programmes from March 2027. MBA programmes at both locations are set to begin earlier, in November 2026.
Applications are currently open for both campuses via the university’s India website.
