XLRI has appointed Fr Antony R. Uvari, SJ, as Director of its Delhi–NCR campus with effect from July 1, 2026. He succeeds Fr Nelson A. D’Silva, SJ, who has been appointed President of the Delhi Jesuit Society.
An alumnus of XLRI, Jamshedpur, Fr Uvari holds a postgraduate degree from the institute and a PhD from the University of Madras. He brings more than 18 years of academic, administrative and leadership experience across management institutions in India.
In his new role, Fr Uvari will oversee the Delhi–NCR campus with a focus on academic excellence, industry partnerships, interdisciplinary learning and student development.
He has previously served as a faculty member at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB), and XLRI, where he also held positions including Dean of Administration, Associate Dean, Chairperson of Admissions and Professor. He later served as Associate Director of XIMB, Registrar of XIM University, Bhubaneswar, and Vice Chancellor of XIM University between 2019 and 2025. He has also been a visiting faculty member at Loyola University Maryland.
His research focuses on leadership, human resource management and organisational performance. He has published research papers, developed teaching case studies and conducted management development programmes for corporate and development-sector organisations.
Speaking on his appointment, Fr Uvari said he looked forward to working with students, faculty, staff, alumni and industry partners to strengthen the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, ethical leadership, innovation and nation-building.
Welcoming the appointment, Fr Alwyn Rodrigues, SJ, Dean (Administration and Finance), XLRI, said Fr Uvari’s academic background and leadership experience would support the continued growth of the Delhi–NCR campus. He also thanked Fr Nelson A. D’Silva for his contribution to the development of the campus.
XLRI said the appointment comes as the Delhi–NCR campus, established in 2020, continues to expand its academic programmes, industry engagement and management education initiatives in the National Capital Region.
