Teen batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who starred in the U19 World Cup final against England earlier this month, will not be appearing for his Class 10 board examinations this year.
Sooryavanshi, a resident of Tajpur in Bihar, is enrolled at Modesty School, Tajpur, and was slated to take his Class 10 board exams from February 17 to March 11.
However, his coach, Manish Ojha, confirmed on Monday that the left-handed batter has opted to skip the examinations as he focuses on preparations for the upcoming Indian Premier League season.
Speculation had been rife for several days over whether the 14-year-old would be able to sit the crucial exams, especially with most of 2025 spent on international assignments with India U19 and India A, leaving him little time for academic preparation.
The youngster is expected to play a significant role for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026 and has already begun his pre-season training. “He will not be appearing for the Class 10 exams. He is currently in Nagpur, preparing for the IPL, and has already joined the Rajasthan Royals’ pre-season camp,” Ojha confirmed on Monday afternoon.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has emerged as one of India’s most exciting young cricketing prospects, making headlines with his fearless batting at the U19 World Cup, where he played a match-defining knock in the final against England.
At just 14, the left-handed batter has already represented India U19 and earned exposure with India A, showcasing maturity well beyond his age against top-quality opposition. His consistent performances in age-group and domestic circuits fast-tracked his rise, culminating in his selection by the Rajasthan Royals, who see him as a long-term investment. Sooryavanshi’s rapid ascent, composure in high-pressure games, and ability to dominate elite bowling attacks underline his status as a generational talent in Indian cricket.
