Ashoka University has opened applications for the 16th cohort of its Young India Fellowship (YIF) for the Class of 2026–27, announcing that all selected candidates will receive partial or full scholarships supported by HDFC Bank.
In a statement issued in New Delhi on February 11, the university said the year-long residential programme, which marks 15 years since its inception in 2011, will now offer a postgraduate diploma in interdisciplinary studies. The fellowship also laid the foundation for the establishment of the university in 2014.
Applications for the programme are free and reviewed on a rolling basis. The priority deadline is February 23, 2026, while the final round of applications will close on March 23, 2026.
The Young India Fellowship offers interdisciplinary training through core and elective coursework, critical inquiry and expression, experiential learning, and holistic engagement. Fellows complete around 18 courses across disciplines and undertake a real-world project under the guidance of faculty and senior alumni.
The programme invites applications from graduates across fields, including engineering, commerce, humanities, sciences, arts and professional disciplines. It is designed for individuals seeking interdisciplinary capabilities, career transitions, or enhanced leadership and critical thinking skills.
Vice-Chancellor Somak Raychaudhury said the fellowship has produced alumni working across government, academia, civil society, research, corporate sectors and entrepreneurship. The programme currently has an alumni community of over 2,400 members.
The Class of 2026–27 will comprise around 100 Fellows. Candidates of any age or nationality with a recognised undergraduate degree by July 2026, including final-year students, are eligible to apply. Scholarships range from 25 per cent to full funding covering tuition, residence and meals, with additional financial support available for select candidates. Around 10 participants will receive the Chancellor’s Scholarship, covering full tuition and residence costs.
Applications are assessed through a holistic review process, followed by an online personal interview for shortlisted candidates.
