I Am A Teacher (IAAT) has launched a Post-Graduate Certificate in IB Education (PGC-IB), endorsed by The University of Melbourne, in response to the growing demand for trained educators in International Baccalaureate (IB) schools in India.

The programme comes amid a reported 44% rise in IB schools in India over the past five years, with further growth projected. The PGC-IB aims to address the shortage of teachers trained in IB pedagogy by focusing on critical thinking, inquiry-based learning and student agency aligned with the IB mission.

The 10-month course combines academic input from The University of Melbourne, the IB framework and IAAT’s human-centred teaching approach. Participants receive dual certification — the Post-Graduate Certificate in IB Education endorsed by The University of Melbourne and the IB Certificate in Teaching and Learning (Primary Years Programme). The certification provides access to IB community resources and opportunities across more than 6,000 IB schools globally.

IAAT was founded by the team behind Heritage International Xperiential Schools and has trained educators working at institutions including Pathways School, Ascend International School, Bombay International School, The Shri Ram School, Shiv Nadar School and American School of Bombay.

Daisy Rana, School Head at RP Goenka School, said IAAT-trained teachers have succeeded as IB educators in India and abroad, citing the programme’s alignment with IB philosophy. Faculty members include IB consultants, evaluators and school leaders, supported by pedagogical experts from global institutions.

The programme is designed for working professionals and is delivered through weekly live classes and mentoring sessions. IAAT said the course aims to develop educators through reflection and professional practice alongside teaching methods.

The first cohort is scheduled to begin in July 2026.
