The All India Council for Technical Education has launched the third edition of its AICTE-VAANI Scheme to support the use of Indian languages in technical education.
The scheme was introduced by AICTE Chairman Prof. Yogesh Singh, who said the initiative aims to improve access to technical knowledge by enabling students and researchers to engage with content in their native languages. He noted that students transitioning from regional language schooling to English-medium higher education often face difficulties.
AICTE Member Secretary Prof. Shyama Rath said the initiative would support the availability of study material in Indian languages and strengthen the learning environment.
Under the scheme, ₹4 crore will be allocated annually to support 200 conferences, seminars and workshops. Each selected institution will receive ₹2 lakh to organise events lasting two to three days in 22 regional languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi and Kannada.
The programme will cover 16 focus areas, including Artificial Intelligence, data science, quantum technology, hydrogen energy, cybersecurity, space and defence, and agrotech. Applications from AICTE-approved institutions will be accepted online between April 18 and May 17, 2026.
Since its launch, the VAANI scheme has supported the publication of more than 200 research papers in Indian languages and facilitated collaboration between academic institutions and industry.
