Located at Itki near Ranchi, the 150-acre fully residential campus will feature modern classrooms, laboratories, sports facilities, and housing for students and faculty. Plans also include a teaching hospital and medical college, along with sustainable infrastructure such as energy-efficient systems and rainwater harvesting.
Sharing the vision, Zulfiquar Haider, Vice Chancellor Designate of the Ranchi campus, said the university aims to closely engage with the social, developmental, and cultural context of Jharkhand, including the knowledge systems of Adivasi communities, while offering programmes suited to diverse learners and working professionals.
The Ranchi campus will offer undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate, and continuing education programmes in areas such as Development, Education, Economics, Public Health, Climate Change, and Sustainability.
In its first academic year, the campus will launch MA programmes in Applied Economics and Development, along with postgraduate diplomas in Local Development, Early Childhood Education, and Educational Assessment, and short certificate courses in public health, education, and development.
The new campus extends the university’s public mission of advancing equity, sustainability, and social justice through teaching, research, and practice, with a strong regional focus on Jharkhand and eastern India.
