The BSAI Seminar on “Awakening the Inner Compass in Gen Alpha” was held from 7–9 May 2026 at Pinegrove School, Dharampur, Himachal Pradesh, bringing together delegates from eleven schools along with the management, staff and students of the host institution.
The seminar explored how Gen Alpha can navigate the BANI (Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, Incomprehensible) world through the development of emotional intelligence, self-awareness and spiritual quotient. Discussions across sessions focused on mental well-being, responsible decision-making, leadership and the importance of values in addressing the challenges of a rapidly changing social and digital environment.
The programme commenced with an opening ceremony, followed by an interactive ice-breaking session conducted by Arunodai Sharma, aimed at fostering engagement among participants. A student musical performance was also presented as part of the inaugural proceedings.
On the second day, BSAI President Capt. AJ Singh delivered the introductory address, emphasising the need for self-awareness, empathy and emotional regulation. He highlighted the impact of anxiety, negativity and internal conflicts on individual and social well-being, and underlined the role of spiritual quotient alongside intellectual and emotional capabilities in shaping balanced individuals.
Lt. Gen. S. Kulkarni led a session on understanding the BANI framework, examining the effects of technological advancement, information overload and social fragmentation on young people. He stressed the importance of resilience, mindfulness, flexibility and critical thinking in adapting to uncertainty.
Mr Suresh Srinivasan conducted a session on awakening the inner compass through spiritual quotient, focusing on inner happiness, self-realisation and purposeful living. He encouraged participants to move beyond external validation and to focus on balance, acceptance and consistency in their personal and academic lives.
An activity-based session by Ms Mona Verma addressed practical tools for guiding Gen Alpha, with emphasis on perception, bias, communication and decision-making. Through interactive exercises, participants were encouraged to verify information, avoid impulsive reactions and develop emotional resilience in interpersonal contexts.
The seminar also featured a dance drama performance by students and included an excursion to Kasauli. On the final day, delegates visited The Lawrence School, Sanawar, where they were introduced to its heritage, boarding practices and institutional framework during a guided campus tour.
The seminar concluded with participants reflecting on key takeaways related to self-development, emotional awareness, ethical conduct and leadership, with a focus on applying these insights in academic and residential school environments.
