The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has said that vulnerabilities identified in the OnMark portal of its service provider have been contained, with efforts continuing to identify and eliminate any other potential security weaknesses.
In a statement posted on X on Sunday, the board said it had been closely monitoring concerns regarding vulnerabilities in the portal that had been raised in the public domain.
CBSE said a team of cybersecurity professionals from various government agencies and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) had been deployed over the past few days to strengthen the system’s security and support its migration to a more secure infrastructure.
“The identified vulnerabilities have been contained, and other exploitable weaknesses are being ruled out,” the board said.
The board also acknowledged the role of citizens and ethical hackers who had flagged the issues and said it had contacted some of them directly.
“We are grateful to all alert citizens and ethical hackers pointing out such weaknesses, and have gotten in touch with some of them directly. We request any others to reach out to our security teams at [email protected] for any further inputs,” the statement said.
The clarification comes amid concerns raised publicly over alleged vulnerabilities in the portal used by the board’s service provider.
