Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) has partnered with L&T EduTech to launch a STEM and future technologies immersion programme for high school students across Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
The first phase will cover around 3,000 students from 100 schools. The initiative focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), aligned with India’s emphasis on strengthening capabilities in these areas.
The 20-hour programme is structured as 10 sessions of two hours each and can be scheduled by schools during the summer, as an after-school activity or within regular school hours. Students will be introduced to design thinking, artificial intelligence, robotics and coding, and will work in teams to build solutions to real-world, industry-linked problems.
CENTA will anchor teaching and delivery through its network of trained and certified teachers, while L&T EduTech will provide industry and technology inputs. CENTA’s network spans more than two million teachers across over 100,000 schools and 10,000 locations in India, with a presence in the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia. L&T EduTech has focused on industry-oriented skill development in higher education and is extending this approach to the school segment through the partnership.
Ramya Venkataraman, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CENTA, said the programme aims to help students apply STEM concepts to real-world contexts and build problem-solving skills.
Febin M.F., Head of L&T EduTech, said the collaboration seeks to combine pedagogy with industry exposure and introduce students to emerging technologies and innovation-led approaches.
At the end of the course, student teams will present their projects, with selected participants receiving awards and certificates. The programme has been flagged off in the four cities, with plans for expansion in subsequent phases.
