D Y Patil International School Worli hosted a co-creation session with the International Baccalaureate, bringing together IB officials and representatives from nine schools in Mumbai to discuss hybrid learning.
The session, titled “Shaping the Future of Hybrid Learning”, was attended by Olli-Pekka Heinonen and Mahesh Balakrishnan, Senior Manager for Business Development (India and Nepal). Participants examined how hybrid learning can support students in developing independent learning skills.
Discussions focused on the role of hybrid models in enabling students to manage their own learning and adapt to changing academic and professional environments. Attendees also highlighted the need for equity, family engagement and student participation in learning design.
Heinonen said the format of the session could be replicated in schools globally. Kinnari Shah, Principal of the school, called for greater acceptance of technology in education.
A spokesperson for the school said the focus of education should shift towards developing independent learners.
The event reflects ongoing discussions in India on the design and delivery of education, with increasing emphasis on student-centred learning.
